In 2016 I made a New Year’s resolution that I would use my daily commute to read rather than play Bejeweled or sleep on random people’s shoulders. It was a lofty goal, one that led me all the way into a bookstore and then exactly thirteen pages into a poetry book. I remember sitting there on January 3rd thinking, “These poems suck, I could write better poems than this.”

So I did, or at least I tried. All My Heroes Wore Carhartt – And Other Disappointing Poems is my own self-deprecating, 1990’s reminiscing, mismatched sock wearing attempt at poetry. Each idea was written from deep beneath the streets of Manhattan and then mashed together into what my girlfriend once called, “a misguided effort at a once brilliant idea.”
